Does what it says with additional research.

To use this easily you need to use another company's software. This is a German company and the translation sucks at best. but i understand german better than chinese. They probably dumped the German company anyway. -2 stars for this reason, but 6 stars for how damn useful and easy it becomes compared to old floppy disks once you take the time to get it working.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

A must have if you still need floppy disks

I was helping a friend fix his '94 Mackie d8b computer. I've tried USB floppy drives and various other devices. This emulator was amazing. Once set up I could also have 100 virtual drives to host the tools, DOS and OS. Negative. There was no software in my package that I had to download from the manufacturer's website. After the installation everything worked fine. I used a 4GB flash drive, the smallest I had, but we were able to reinstall Mackie d8b OS from this emulator.

  • Glitter

  • Hardly ever

Retro Floppy Replacement

The only affordable physical drive replacement. This is a genuine Gotek model but the software is not included. This is required to format the USB flash drive into multi-disk blocks. See the Philscomputerlab review for details. Although it works reliably. Custom firmware is also available but requires additional hardware to flash. Processing quality could be better. The LED display wasn't even there. Simply free. So don't put any pressure on it. Hard to find support and documentation.

Pros
  • Quick Replacement
Cons
  • Boring Pack

DISCOVER THE USE!

This is a great product but be sure to learn how to use it. A USB drive must be specially formatted before it will work on that drive. There's supposed to be an easy way to do this with GoTek, but I couldn't figure out the method. There is free software that you can run on a newer PC to prepare the USB and save the data to any emulated floppy disk. I recommend IPCAS USB Floppy Emulator V2. Using this method I was also able to copy the OS installation discs to 4 discs and start a fresh install…

Works great with data storage

Works as it should, easy to install and use Just plug in the flash drive you want to use with the emulator and hold down both buttons, while you boot up your computer (or device) and the floppy emulator will partition and format the flash drive for the equivalent of 1000 floppy disks and then reboot normally. Operating software that only (should) contain 100 floppy equivalent partitions and formats and is known to contain bugs, so you'd better discard the software and just boot by holding both…

Emulates a real floppy drive

I had to upgrade expensive test equipment that still used a floppy drive for I/O. I decided to try Gotek's floppy disk emulator and it installed like a normal floppy disk drive. The machine's BIOS "thinks" it is a floppy drive and writes to it as if it were one. This device can create multiple partitions of 1.44MB each, but I only use one partition and it works great for getting data into my report layouts in QuarkXpress. .The writing speed is the same as on a floppy disk, but of course…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Some drawbacks

I was able to get it to work on my 1999 SWF AT 1201 embroidery machine. If you don't know, search the web for the product and many manual pdfs are missing, but there are several YouTube videos and forums discussing them for various products. I had to put a jumper on the JA and rotate it 180 so it could be screwed to the floppy. When downloading it, plug in a 2GB or less FAT formatted flash drive, hold down both buttons on the converter while powering on the device. The drive will begin…

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • No instructions

In retro computing? Buy this!

I've been really into retro computing lately. But in 2020, fiddling with tiny floppy disks is no fun at all. Bad sectors, dirty drives, it's just not the best experience. Enter this thing. It makes it easy to turn any old USB drive into 1000 floppy disks and just press a button to switch between them. It works on any old PC or other devices that use floppy disks for storage (synths, etc.). Some notes on the firmware installed by default on the device: * Software to use the device. interesting…
