Well made. Good size.

Very nice quality, Just the right size for my needs. I can't comment on any loss of bristles yet. So far, so good. Bristles started shedding on first wash!

Pros
  • Love this pastry brush. Better than others I have bought in the last few years
Cons
  • Bristles started shedding on first wash

High end kitchen tool for not much money

Beautiful, effective, and easy to clean. Believe it is what T Keller uses in MasterClass. Worth the price if it holds up.

Pros
  • Baking & Pastry Utensils
Cons
  • May be prone to rusting with prolonged exposure to moisture

Matfer Bourgeat 116014 Flat Pastry Brush

Good quality. Although my wife tried to brush on some coconut oil that was really hot and it melted. She used it for what it was not designed for. It's a nice width.

Pros
  • Bakeware
Cons
  • May be too stiff or inflexible for some users

Excellent quality best in my review

Very soft bristles that do not fall out which is exactly what one wishes for in a pastry brush. Very good quality brush. I will probably purchase this brush in other sizes. I am very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Great quality pastry brush - the wife loves it.
Cons
  • Not dishwasher safe

Just what I wanted - my new review

Excellent for basting, spreading olive oil in pans, etc. these are high quality brushes that will last. I bought several sizes.

Pros
  • VARIETY OF USES: Highly versatile baking tool, ideal for coating pastries and basting and sauces smoothly and effortlessly, while also used for applying egg washes, melted butter, and sugar glazes to dough, icing pastries and cakes, marinading meats and fish, sealing the edges of stuffed pasta or pierogis, and even greasing your bakeware and cookware
Cons
  • May be difficult to control the amount of liquid applied

I got this to replace the silicone pastry "brush" that I thought was going to be so nice. It is when it comes to some things because it can be cleaned to much easier. But there are some jobs where an actual brush is really needed to do the job correctly. I debated back and forth between this one made in France and another one made in Germany. Bürstenhaus Redecker Pastry Brush with Untreated Beechwood Handle, Set of 2, 7-1/2 and 8-Inch Ultimately I chose this one because of the resin…

Pros
  • Kitchen & Dining
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use with certain types of coatings or glazes

Likely the wold's most perfect pastry brush!

It's a bit more costly than its competitors, but I say scrimp elsewhere. If you're going to all the trouble of making an elegant French pastry, don't mess it up with a cheap pastry brush that loses its bristles. This one is made in France and well worth the extra bit of cost.

Pros
  • 1Works fine
Cons
  • Handle may be uncomfortable to grip for extended periods

Great for the Pro Pastry Chef

I haven't had this brush for long, but so far I have not lost any bristles and it works really well in the professional kitchen.

Pros
  • Home & Kitchen
Cons
  • Bristles may become frayed with frequent use

Great pastry brush!

Love this pastry brush. None of the hairs come off. It is a little wide for what I was looking for but since it comes in several sizes you can get a little bit smaller one. Definitely recommend. I use all the time.

Pros
  • Does what it should and no loose strands! Would buy again.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use with delicate pastries

Synthetic bristles!

Natural bristles, those that are advertised, do not melt under heat. These are synthetic bristles that melt and fuse under heat.

Pros
  • These Matfer brushes are the best. The bristles don't end up in your pastry.
Cons
  • May be too expensive for budget-conscious consumers
