Review on Epson EF-100 Smart Laser Projector With Android TV White by Dick Grayson

Super Bright - Excellent Picture - TV Replacement

We needed a projector that would work on a wall next to a south-facing wall made of windows. I had tried an inexpensive projector and couldn't make it work unless I closed the curtains and turned off all the lights in the house. Well, this projector is the BOMB in comparison! For the same setup, this projector is able to display an image on the wall in the day and it looks great, no complaints! The projector ships at 80% brightness, but I turned it up to 100%, and though it did get brighter, it didn't seem like it got 20% brighter. Still, the image looks ah-mazing!There are some things I really dislike, like the volume display on the screen completely covering subtitles. It doesn't have to be as bad as it is, they could make it transparent, but nope. Speaker could be improved, but is adequate, and the extension leg resembles something my son made out of play dough, very minimal and not as sturdy as it could be.The android TV device that plugs in to allow wireless streaming is for android only. I tried to get it to work with my iPhone, and was only able to get so far until it wouldn't go any further. I really HATED how you had to sign into it with a google account, so now big brother can track everything you stream. We opted to use an HDMI cable instead, which meant we had to find someplace to store the wireless device, because it won't fit in the projector if you are using an HDMI cable, which is massively annoying because if the enclosure was just a hair bigger, it would fit.I did end up purchasing a 4K Walmart Firestick and it just fits into the projector. Even though the projector can’t display 4K, the 4K stick has additional wireless frequencies and overall, runs faster than the original firestick, so the extra few dollars to upgrade to the 4K is worth it.Colors and setup are fairly easy, and there are a lot of options to get the image you want. I really like how the image straightens itself automatically if you are shooting from an extreme angle and not head-on. A very nice feature! You can also zoom in and zoom out the image if you want to project from different distances, very handy. Focus is manual and it's easy to get a crisp picture. For us, this projector can serve as a TV replacement. We want to keep the HDMI cable attached permanently, but because of how the cable flexes, it starts to push off the rear covering, so that's simply annoying. I think the design of popping off the back to plug things in is short-sighted, since we have to keep pushing the back on.Sound quality could be better, but is adequate for a projector. It effortlessly connected to a bluetooth speaker which then made it sound awesome. We like the projector enough, even though it isn't perfect, it's really good! 4.5 stars! We needed a really bright projector that could been seen in nearly full-sun, and this one is the best we have used, so for that reason alone, it's a winner! If you have any questions, just ask in the comments and we'll do our best to answer them.

Pros
  • OUTSTANDING BRIGHTNESS (2) – Capable of displaying high-definition content at an exceptional 2,000 lumens of brightness for both color and white content. This not only provides for an exceptional viewing experience but sets a new standard in this class of projection. (1, 3)
Cons
  • The projector is large and takes up a lot of space, which limits its versatility
