This lamp saved my thumb. Shipping took forever, but it was worth the wait. Two days ago, I got a deep sliver under my fingernail and on the side of my thumb. I was able to pull out the fat stubby chunk under my nail just because the tweezers could catche, but not the thin sliver along the side that went deep. I just couldn't see it well enough, with or without glasses, or using the household magnifying glass. This lamp had been delayed in shipping, and was supposed to arrive that night, but was held up again due to inclement weather. The next day, my finger was red, infected and unbendable. Thank goodness, the magnifying glass/lamp arrived that afternoon. What a difference the lighting and magnification make! I could instantly see I was about 1/8 inch off yesterday. So I dug into the right spot with a thin needle and tweezers and pulled out this sliver (see picture) - 8mm. Not that big unless its under your skin!The last time I went to the doctor to remove a sliver in my foot, he was not equipped to do the job. He didn't even have a magnifying glass or thin tweezers! I had to go home and let it dissolve. This one would not have dissolved. It would have caused a serious infection. I could never have pulled this sliver out without this magnifying glass.
