It doesn't work properly with HP Specter x360

HDR has been corrupted and the display signal is fine. I received a 2160p HDR signal at 60 Hz as advertised. But there is no sound for HP Specter x360. Then I tried my roommate's Macbook. The adapter works fine and emits sound. The Specter x360 features Display 1.4 compatible USB-C ports. It should beep properly. I had another adapter that doesn't support HDR but outputs audio correctly. I was trying to figure out what was going on and researched many other products on Amazon. Some adapters say

HDMI 2.0b: 4k HDR output with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling

It is difficult to find a suitable USB-C to HDMI 2.0b adapter these days Finding adapters, most common cables promise HDR but turn out as HDMI 2.0 (without a or b needed for HDR). This cable introduces DisplayPort Alternate Mode over USB-C or ThunderBolt as HDMI 2.0b output supporting HDR10 and Dolby Vision. This worked well on my iPad Pro 2018 and Dell Latitude 7480 with Thunderbolt to output 4k HDR videos. to be a Titan Ridge controller or newer, older Alpine Ridge/Kaby Lake controllers or…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

HDR requires a DP 1.4 capable chipset

Allows me to connect a Thinkpad P50 to my Samsung 7 series and get 4K60p 4:4:4. This was important as the laptop only has DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, with the former having bandwidth for 4K60p but being actively adaptable (which means expensive and generally poor adapters that may or may not handle color correctly). ; Passive adapters only connect with 1.4 bandwidth and 1.4 bandwidth is only good enough for 4K30. Unfortunately, it looks like I can't use HDR on my device, which wasn't a hard…

Works perfectly! Just a problem with my laptop.

This adapter works great with my Yoga 910. Smooth video playback on my 4K TV. The only problem is that the audio signal is not available on the USB-C port on my Lenovo laptop, so the sound is not transmitted through the HDMI adapter. I don't know how well this adapter works with laptops that have USB audio (if any). There are workarounds. Of course, now there are many ways to mirror your laptop screen. This adapter gives me a great 4K experience on my TV and I connect audio through my laptop's…
