Look for other brands

I couldn't find a support phone number in the manual or elsewhere. The website says 909-902-1785. The person on the phone said they would call me back within 30 minutes. I've waited much longer and no one has called me back yet. I have followed all the instructions but this product is not working. The MS Windows Fax and Scan application displays all sorts of error messages. I have decided to return this item.

Pros
  • Useful for more than its original purpose
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Failed after 8 months

Rarely used and only used for faxing. It worked for 8 months and then broke down. No support information and no warranty information. Hiro price). It works the same way. Let's see how it works.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Expensive

The access control system is available through the phone line

So I need to support the programming of the access control system in our area. This modem works fine with win10 (I'm actually running linear accessbase2000 in a w7 VM on my win10 machine). It works really well and this unit has a speaker so I can hear what's going on and if there's a problem with a noisy phone line.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • There are defects

Brought to you by exceptional customer service

I had the problem that I thought the device wasn't recognized (or so I thought) and the driver wasn't installed. I spoke to HiRO and they happily sent me another one. When that didn't work I called Hiro and was immediately put through to Richard who was willing to help. We tested it on a Windows 7 computer and it was detected. He then walked me through installing the latest driver on Windows 10, we tested the fax features together and it worked. We also tested the phonetray to ensure caller ID…

  • Great price
Cons

Works fine on modems

My multifunction printer doesn't support faxing, so I bought this USB fax modem. I connected it to my PC. Windows 10 recognized it so I didn't have to use the minidisk that came with it. I used the windows fax application for testing. Failed to send the first time (I have VOIP). The second time he sent and received the fax successfully. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

Great PC fax solution

I am using this with Windows 10 Fax and Scan to send faxes over regular phone lines. You simply connect to a USB port and a phone line. I thought there was a problem with USB 3.0, but it turned out to be related to the USB interface on my ASUS motherboard (P9X79 Pro). It works great with USB add-on cards on the same PC and built-in USB interfaces on other ASUS motherboards (like the ROG Zenith Extreme). Technical support was very responsive.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • confused

It Works Electronics

The instructions were not easy. However, I'm not tech savvy and figured it out. Although it took several hours. I connected everything; it was recognized by my computer; and tried to send myself a test HP online fax. An incoming fax was not recognized. After trying many fixes and testing the shipping each time, I looked at the HP printer settings and found the option to print saved faxes. I chose these and, to my surprise, printed out all the 'failing' tests I had sent myself. No display in my…

Don't buy if you don't have landline phone service.

Definitely will NOT work with the Magicjack phone module. HiRO was quick to tell me it would only work with wired analog phone service, and they seemed confused that Magicjack IS a "digital service". HiRO's description doesn't specifically mention what can't be used with VoiP. As more people move to VoIP, consider adding the T.38 protocol for digital interoperability. DO NOT buy this if you plan to switch from a landline phone to most digital services.

  • Cool
