Sequential throughput performance at over 226 MB/s reading and 170 MB/s writing. Dual 1GbE ports with failover and Link Aggregation support. 4K 10-bit H.265 video transcoding on the fly. Over 40TB raw single volume capacity. Compatible Drive Type-3.5 inch SATA HDD, 2.5 inch SATA HDD, 2.5 inch SATA SSD. "Compatible drive type" indicates drives that have been tested to be compatible with Synology products. This term does not indicate the maximum connection speed of each drive bay.

Best product I have ever reviewed, I recommend it to everyone!

Before buying this unit had nothing to do with NAS. I thought that I would have to suffer for a very long time in order to set everything up, install it. No complaints, I recommend the product for purchase.

Bought a few years ago for a much lower price than now. I use it as a home NAS, on which I store video, photos and a book library. I filled all the bays with 8 TB disks and combined them into RAID5, incl. usable capacity 24 TB (actually 21.5 TB, since the actual size of the HDD is 7.26 TB). The noise from the fans and HDD is quite noticeable, so if you are in a living room, you need to turn it off at night. I didnt see good quality, solid disadvantages.

Instead of a thousand words, read reviews on "apps" from this buggy company. For example on the play store. About software for PC - without hard mats - it will not work at all. It is difficult to call these crafts of theirs even software. The resonant noise from the box, as already mentioned here, is simply unacceptable. Stands on a shelf in the pantry behind 2 doors. These vibrations are heard at night. Now I have to turn it off at night! Hand-face. And synologists call this box HOME SERVER.

Good quality product, I rate this purchase excellent.

Took in exchange for the failed DS216Play. This server is my deep sleep. I keep working photographic material of customers. Yes - expensive! But not more than reputation. For the money - a couple of weddings. For downloading and watching movies, I connected a USB-HDD, since I think it’s not worth spending expensive RAID space on movies. While standing in the mirror two 5TB disks. In the future, larger capacity drives will be purchased.

The perfect product for any user!

In short, I’ve been using it for a couple of months now, I’m happy like an elephant, it’s enough for my needs: 1) I use 2 disks in raid 0 to store movies, music, software and other things that can be downloaded back from the Internet if something happens 2) I use 2 other disks in raid 1 for photos, digitized video and other very important things so as not to lose I set up Plex on it, I watch 4K movies on mobile devices and smart TV, but keep in mind that this model does not know how to hardware

I've been wanting a storage box from Synology for a long time. But the first impression was spoiled. Noise and rattle of fans.
