Just super, it's beautifully made, I'm very happy with it.

I considered creating my own NAS or purchasing one like this for a very long time. Purchased DS218 and have never looked back; everything works and there is no tambourine dancing. Save a ton of time by setting it up once and forgetting it. I utilize drive-video-audio-photo-station, dlna, as well as disk synchronization, access via smb, and nfs. The realtek processor and 2GB of RAM are more than enough for the average home; the only time it experiences strain is when simultaneously indexing…

Pros
  • Everything works, is set up quickly, and is small and quiet.
Cons
  • cost, one network port

In Basic, I employ two disks. One (SG IronWolf 4Tb) for the media server and torrents. The second one, a blue WD 1Tb, is for storing files. A good built-in torrent downloads at a rate of 30 MB per second (MGTS 250) right out of the box, but adding a turbo button boost (in the same tariff) does not enhance the download rate by 1 Gbps. You require a static IP (MGTS has 180 per month (radishes)) to fully utilize this NAS. The LG 50 nano 796NF handles the heaviest 4K material without any lags or…

Pros
  • just three pennies simple. I, the handyman, even interacted with him. the capability of working without a static IP when remotely using it.
Cons
  • Low fan speed noisy. At night, you can hear it in the room. I will sanitize the hallway. mobile applications. Of course, I'm not an expert in this, but wouldn't it have been able to create only one software rather than a variety of them?

It is great!

This is a powerful little device that does just about everything you could ever need. Not only does it deliver all my files over the network easily, but it does so quickly and with any protocol I can use. I've ever seen small and medium-sized companies? Check. iSCSI? Check. NSF? FTP? rsync? Yes. With the ability to run virtual machines (and Docker containers!), I was able to take over my performance-hungry 24/7 PC, as well as a remote VPS VM that I paid for. This ultimately pays off in the form

I bought the DS718+ with this expansion bay. I'm not a beginner, I set it up but a few questions came up. Synology has informed me that they no longer offer customer support and I am on my own. After spending $2,500 (Synology plus hard drives and storage upgrades), I expected to ask at least a few questions. This does not bode well and both units are returning. It was easy to set up and seems to be working fine. Without technical support I don't need a technical product. Synology, WHY are you…

DS918+ is enthusiastic

Researched a lot, finally bit the bullet and definitely made the right decision. It took a while to filter out all the competing brands and models, but the DS918+ is arguably the most powerful set-top box in this price range. I wanted to combine all the photos and videos from different vacations and events over the years, but decided that any NAS could do the job effectively. The part that really made the DS918+ stand out was its ability to transcode videos on the fly with very little CPU…

Setup was easy.: Storage

I've attached some photos, nothing special here, it's a 4-bay NAS (expandable to 9 drives). Light weight, plastic frame and hard drive case, but later, when it was loaded with drives, the weight savings were appreciated. Along with the drives, I also installed an M2 NVMe drive to set up the cache. Later, when tuning, you'll find that the Solo Cache SSD maximizes read speeds. To get the best performance for reading and writing tasks, you need 2 SSDs for caching. I need to do some testing and…

Worth the wait.

After announcing the 918+ earlier this year, I postponed my planned purchase of the 916+ because I need support for two NVM SSDs to improve caching/performance. 4GB storage expansion and 4 x 8TB IronWolf Pro drives. The hardware was installed and operational in less than 30 minutes. Installation was easy, I went with the SHR-1 to have more space and still get the benefits of striping. It took some time to complete the initial parity check, but all disks were checked. I've been using the system…

Initial research was not enough to shed any light on the matter

I rarely write reviews but this product delivers. I did a lot of research and figured this product would be the answer to my backup solution. All the research I did wasn't enough to draw my attention to the problems I was supposed to be encountering, because researching hardware doesn't give you clues about all the problems people have with software. When I started having problems and started looking for my problems, I found people who had these problems for more than 5 years and got almost no…

4 stars to 1 star. ashamed. read on and you will understand.

Update attempt number 2 I originally submitted an update to this review about a week ago and it hasn't seen the light of day. Amazon didn't explain why it wasn't posted, but I'm posting it again in hopes it gets through. I've been a Synology fan for a few years. I encountered DSM issues and wrong choice of hardware because I could get it to work and it worked fine for my purpose. This is my fourth device (two are retired and another is still online) and when I first got it I loved everything…
