Amazing battery life

I'm a journalist who depends on my records. In the field, this Sony just works. My interview topics always sound crystal clear. The built in stand is perfect and one of the most ingenious ideas I have ever seen in a voice recorder. The biggest advantage of this voice recorder is the battery life. I'm a heavy user and I record hours of interviews per week. I was amazed that the batteries lasted all summer. After four months of use, the power meter still showed a bar. I could probably use it for…

and carry it around like an MP3 player

I bought this recorder on sale before going to a music camp last summer. I used to use one of the more advanced Sony models with USB charging capability. I record my music lessons and original recordings of the music I'm learning and carry them around like an MP3 player. This device is amazing. I have an expansion card and can record a lot of audio. Sometimes I put lectures in one of the folders, which makes it easy to keep track of the audio categories - I have lectures from one course in one…

-Best Made-

Bought this Sony ICD-AX412 recorder brand new 4 years ago, use it several hours a day to record books and songs in French to play back on the recorder (me); The sound is great and loud, when I turn it up to volume I NEVER need headphones, it plays my recording like I'm listening to a good CD player. Never let down ANY dysfunction. It has 2 GB of built-in memory, has a MicroSD slot (recommended not to use more than 8 GB), has a switch (on/off noise reduction), another switch (repeat), very…

For lecture capture

Bought last semester (Spring 2012) for lecture capture. I have to say it was very helpful. I've only included it in a senior class (small classes) and so far it's worked great. The reason I bought it was because I can't remember what the professor used to say in class sometimes. Other advantages are that 1) I don't have to take notes most of the time (just look at the slides and listen to the lecture at the same time) and can fully concentrate on understanding the lecture 2) sometimes you lose…

Great for school!

I was very hesitant to buy a recorder. I thought about it many years ago but thought it would be a waste to listen again to the 2 hour lectures BUT with the "T-Mark" button that allows me to "mark" part of the recording, I can easily skip all other things to the things I thought were important. I especially like that I can also T-mark after the shot has been taken and I've reviewed it. The sound quality of this recorder is excellent and the noise cut function is a great help when listening with
