This camera is not for the masses.

If you're looking for a camera that can do it all, this isn't the camera you're looking for. Its autofocus lets you down, it can't zoom, it takes forever to write on the card, you have to carry around a bag full of batteries, and sometimes the colors are weird. Why did I buy this camera? I bought it because you can't beat the iQ at this price. I also like that this camera is kind of old school. Autofocus is fine in bright light, but manual prefocusing is better in low light. I also like that…

pure magic. - Camera and Photo

This unassuming little black box is useless in low light. After shooting, you have to wait 15 seconds before you can scold (but you can keep shooting). Therefore, you must use it the same way you would use a film camera with a Kodachrome roll. With the right mental attitude, this thing becomes real magic. Captured in good light (<ISO200), the Foveon images are simply stunning. Makes Bayer images look broken, broken. Images are crystal clear, with excellent micro-contrast, stunning…

Outstanding lens and amazing sensor

pros* in good light it takes great photos* incredible detail* light weight cons* crappy battery life for shooting, not an action photographer's dream. I did my research and knew Merrill's strengths and weaknesses before I made the purchase. I won't judge it for its limited usable ISO range, slow write speed, or slow autofocus. It's a special technical camera and that's how I used it. horses for courses. Note 2: At the time of publication I have had my DP2M for a year now and have taken it with…

The best camera you can buy for under $25,000

Image quality is amazing. 20x30 inch prints are crisp, even up close. Most importantly, the image is completely devoid of Bayer's Demosaic artifacts. These are those fun color patterns you see in photos of blinds or areas of fine texture like gravel. Most people don't even know what they are until they see an image with Sigma and realize how much better the image is without it. Even the best regular DSLRs have these artifacts. To get a camera with truly equivalent image quality, you really need
