Range is crazy good! WOW!

All I have to say is WOW!We recently bought a house that had an already installed garage door opener in it. My guess is that before the previous owners put the house on the market, the garage door opener in the house was broken so they replaced it with a cheap Guardian garage door open. The Guardian garage door opener worked fine with the wired wall push button and the wired sensors and it was quiet, but the remotes were horrible. I'd have to hit the button on the remotes multiple times, try at

Pros
  • ‎Battery-powered
Cons
  • May require professional installation to ensure proper functioning

THIS will FIX your RANGE problems!

THIS did it! Have a pair of 24 year old Genie GDOs that are working great. But had progressively worsening function of the in-auto transmitter remotes that connect to the 12 pin fixed code motor units. Button function was getting sketchy and unreliable and unresponsive and/or the range was lessening. I attributed problems to constant use and age and so extended the antennas off the motor units to the wall above the doors. Helped a bit, but was not satisfied with improvement. Started researching

Genie GIRUD-1T Universal Dual Conversion Kit

Two months ago when the military installed a new communication's tower it affected many homeowners using the 390 MHz frequency garage door openers. I found that our van's HomeLink and separate remote control would not open up the garage door. I had to get out of the van and hold the remote an inch away from the garage door to get it to open up.I called Genie, and they recommended the GIRUD-1T Universal Dual Frequency Conversion Kit which will operate on 315 MHz or 390 MHz. I installed the…

Will not link to 2020 Subaru Forester

Great replacement receiver for my older, non-encoded Genie unit but despite assurances to the contrary, this item will not link up with my 2020 Forester's Homelink system. I tried all recommended procedures dozens of times and they simply do not talk to each other. I don't want to go through the return process and try a different receiver only to get the same results so I'm abandoning the Homelink idea and just keeping the remote in my car.

Pros
  • AUTOMATICALLY SEEKS CORRECT FREQUENCY: The Universal Dual Frequency Kit auto seeks the 315 or 390 Mhz so your opener responds regardless of nearby interference.
Cons
  • Requires additional remote controls for use with multiple garage door openers

Old Dead Opener Revived

I was three seconds away from dragging my old-ish garage door opener out back and putting it out of it's misery. In a last ditch effort to figure out why I had to be standing underneath the opener for the remote to work, I found this Genie add-on part; and man am I glad I did. The Genie remote works at the end of my 80' driveway! It's a pretty easy install once you figure out where your wall button wires enter the opener. The written instructions are kind of trash, just follow the wiring diagram

Pros
  • Doors
Cons
  • The added security feature may not be enough to deter determined intruders

Works well, pretty easy to install

I kind of backed into this purchase in an odd way, because I just wanted to buy a keypad for outside of the garage, and I thought I'd be able to get a wireless one that you program by simply pointing the garage remote at it, like I do with the built in one in my car (HomeLInk system). Well, the keypad I bought has 'intellicode', not 'HomeLink', so it didn't work at all. They don't make HomeLink keypads, and generally the old style of garage signals is not very secure. The intellicode system is…

Pros
  • UPGRADES OLD GARAGE DOOR OPENERS: Upgrades or adds Intellicode security to older openers.
Cons
  • May not work as well with older garage door opener models

Added much needed capabilities to my Guardian door opener

Works exactly as I need it to. My older Guardian opener uses their own signaling system that doesn't work with many universal remotes or my car's HomeLink. I added this and can now use other 3rd party keypads and now I can use my car's built-in remote buttons. Also works well with a Chamberlin MyQ (not wired up directly of course, but during setup in the MyQ app just say you have a Genie garage door opener and it'll pair correctly like a universal remote).

Pros
  • ‎Lithium
Cons
  • May interfere with other wireless devices in the home

Wife approved fix to rejuvenate old garage door opener

Quick and easy install with painless remote pairing.I've upgraded our 65 year old home to a smart home, in our house we have mesh wifi 6E, ZigBee and Z-Wave. I realized with all the wireless signal in our house and neighbors it drowned out our garage door opener remotes. I tried ZigBee and Z-Wave garage door relay but the wife didn't approve. Each time you leave the house and come back the ZigBee and Z-Wave remotes had to sync back up with the hub and this took a few minutes after that you will

Pros
  • ‎Yes
Cons
  • Some users may prefer a garage door opener that does not require additional accessories

The learn button on my Overhead Garage Door broke, and a repair technician pointed me to the lift master brand universal receiver. I wouldn’t have known these exist and thought I had to pay big bucks to get a whole new garage door motor. I tried the lift master brand unit but it’s range is so limited it’s non functional. I then replaced it with this Genie unit and presto, I have a fully functional garage door like new! I also got the pair of additional genie GTR remotes which programmed and…

Cons
  • Some users may prefer a more simple, basic garage door opener remote

Updates Wayne dalton quantum 3212 to homelink

Wayne dalton quantum 3212 with hard wired opener wall buttons will not communicate with Homelink system on late model vehicles. This product fixes that quite easily. The handheld remote programs immediately to vehicle per instructions. Pairing the vehicle to the receiver requires several attempts with the learn button 30 second deal. It took two attempts with a 2020 GMC Sierra and a 2004 Cadillac Escalade and about 4-5 2 second vehicle button pushes. Range on both vehicles about 400 feet…

Pros
  • ‎Receiver box, plug adapter, wiring
Cons
  • May not work effectively in areas with high radio frequency interference

Works great with 1978 Craftsman Garage Door Opener

Could not find a suitable replacement for a 40+ year old remote so I added this unit. 1978 era garage door opener only has 2 terminals & this works just fine with that. Added bonus it also works with the Homelink button on the mirror on my 2012 SantaFe.

Pros
  • ‎No
Cons
  • Can be expensive compared to other garage door opener accessories
