Don't buy the simple combination!

I use this as a sanctuary for my hetto and copepods. I also keep a Zebra Turbo Snail and Blueleg Hermit Crab here to help with unwanted algae growth. PROS - Perfect size for my 36 gallons - Multiple chambers with different filter levels - Adjustable pump - Can turn on the perfect size light to keep going - Comes with everything you need. CONS - Difficult to assemble, no clear instructions - Light is not very efficient when growing Chaetae - Difficult to level. Update: I am reducing my original…

Great product but be careful with the roasts!

I bought a device that came with a water pump and a smoke lamp. I was happy to see that it still comes with an adapter that also allows you to use an air pump. I thought this would be ideal for storing 3 day old fry, but the water circulation is a bit heavy even on the lowest settings so one of the dividers has to be used to distribute the water flow. My only complaint is that all but 2 juveniles managed to flush through the water outlet into the main tank even with the filter in place. Too bad

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • I won't say anything

The value here is really great. What you get for that price is pretty.

Wow, the price here is really great. What you get for this price is worth it. Now I bought the Fugelight version to splurge a bit. I have a feeling that the base unlit model would work well with a small LED flashlight that would be a few bucks cheaper, but that's just a guess. For the folks who say the lid doesn't fit on the attached mounts, the inside of the mount pops out fairly easily. Of course, without them you can't attach the mount (so remove the screws too), but you can use it as a…

Finnex External Refuge

I have a reef aquarium, I went with an external filter with fx450. I'm still new to this hobby and not familiar with refugium repurposing. The main reason I bought this item was to store the copypods for my aquarium. A place where they are sure to sip and then go to my aquarium. In short, I came home from work with a floor full of salt water. This thing started leaking and my ATO started pumping more water back into the tank. Before that it worked great. I put the standard, sand on the bottom…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Defective

Versatile but a bit small for its purpose and price. risk of overflow.

Pros: - Easy to assemble - Can use included pump or air pump to circulate water - Dividers and lids are useful and easy to use Cons - Smaller than expected for valve box - Risk of overfilling if not adjusted correctly because of insufficient drainage. Pay attention to the sizes. If you use both delimiters, the space available in each section is quite small. I wouldn't think it's big enough to raise fry, but it's useful for my purposes. This makes it easier for small sea fish to get used to the…
