As a novice macaron baker, the clearly marked shapes on the mat help me pipe macaron biscuits with some accuracy. It has a good amount of spacing in between and I love that I don't have to think about it at all. Silicon makes it easy to remove the macarons, though I've heard from others that it sticks more than parchment paper. I prefer the ease of use and cleaning with the silicon though. The weight of it also helps with the piping, as parchment paper tends to get undone if I don't secure it to the cookie sheet well enough. I have 2 mats and store them rolled up between layers of kitchen towels. Nothing to complain about so far!
