We got the red gnome, and upon examination, it appears to be of pretty good quality. None of the cloth garments or trim appear to be flimsy or have any loose ends that risk unravelling with use. After slipping 3 AAA batteries into his back, we flipped the adjacent switch (all hidden under his festive outfit,) aaaaaand.nothing. After a few pensive moments checking over this silent, portly fellow, I set him back on the table and was nearly thrown from my chair when he shouted a challenge to me to get into the holiday spirit. This was followed up by a hearty rendition of Jingle Bells, during which he sought to show off his own gnomish interpretation of the electric slide. So I figured out that I have to actually tap him to get him to provide an encore, which is actually great, because if he responded by sensing movement, the constant unprompted activations would be annoying. He's got volume to spare, so everyone in the house will hear it, and his slide moves are a bit random, which is all part of his charm. Note: Do NOT let him dance on your table, unless your table also doubles as a dance floor. He can and will go over the edge when allowed to kick it unsupervised. All in all, a great holiday memento and conversation piece for the holidays, and delightful to watch even once if you need a non-alcoholic shot of Christmas cheer!
