Review on πŸ“€ Sony BDPS1200 Blu-Ray Disc Player (2014 Model) - Wired playback for impeccable home entertainment by Dustin Barry

Departure from quality

Having owned it like this for a whole year I would say that this is a pretty poor quality Blu-ray player. It works out? Of course. movies play well. But it's not the usual Sony quality I expected. It's smooth on the outside. But the buttons on the top feel flimsy and don't press down very well, so they don't always open or turn on properly. The funny thing is that you notice it after using it. actually makes everything better except the movie playback. This works great for Revain videos. It worked really well for me when I used it to display videos over USB at my wife's birthday party. The Netflix feature is good too. I like the fact that it uses an Ethernet cable and doesn't rely on Wi-Fi. Seems like it bounces less often. Now I play movies. I don't know why this upsets me so much. Every Sony DVD player I've had can remember where you left off in multiple movies. We have 5 Sony discs that remember even if you change the film in the drawer. I have an old one that remembers up to 7 discs and stores that information for some time. This player does not remember which disc you have. If you stop it halfway, you know what? You see it from the start. Let's say he'll remember sometimes, but it happens so rarely that we forget it's possible. I don't see any real difference in quality between Blue-Ray quality or DVD quality when using the required HDMI cable. In short I would say that I am generally disappointed but will not replace it until it stops working properly. I'm not the type of person to spend money recklessly.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • So far so good
