Works great - until it works. No help from seller.

This thing has worked "well" for a while. It independently detects IP cameras from two manufacturers, automatically assigns a relative IP address, and then plays either via onvif or via its own protocol. However, as camera models evolved (even within a few months), both functions stopped working. It no longer finds its own cameras and doesn't display video even when I enter information manually. The English translation isn't that great, especially when you get an error message. Error messages are usually opaque. So when you get something like "Error, no device" it's difficult to figure out what's wrong or how to fix it. There are also plenty of places where there is no translation at all, leaving you with no idea what this thing is trying to tell you. The device definitely suffers from phantom power - I have to disconnect the battery when storing it, otherwise it will die on its own within a few weeks. Speaking of power, it doesn't inadvertently support powering the cameras over POE — even with a 1-foot network cable. The device stopped updating the software (a strange error appears instead), and the seller did not help me to solve this problem. Because of all of this, I now have a $350 device that is essentially useless. I would recommend buying a device with a real brand, US website, support number, downloadable firmware updates, etc. The price is too high. risk in my opinion.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Not the best

Surprising usefulness, android based, works on lots of IP camera brands
