Works alright with larger boots, with some caveats.

I wear a 14D Ariat brand boot. They're well worn, but still have plenty of tread. Even so, they haven't been good on the ice and snow. The crampons help, though there is a tradeoff - balance on light ice and snow covered blacktop, concrete, and tile. The teeth of the crampons only go through the middle section of the boot for wider size boots and shoes, meaning that you'll be balancing on the teeth if they don't sink into medium snow and ice. It's made for some awkward transitions indoors where it becomes super easy to roll an ankle. Otherwise, they're nice for snow blowing along thick ice and snow.

Pros
  • Improves safety walking on ice and compact snow.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with foot or ankle injuries
