Review on Premium Garmin fenix 6 Sapphire Multisport GPS Watch: Mapping, Music, Pace Guidance & Pulse Ox Sensors by Dang Linh Ngan ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

Watch version - Garmin Fenix 6Pro, without sapphire and titanium. Glass with Gorilla glass - less glare compared to sapphire, but since it scratches, I glued a protective glass on it and the glare caught up with the sapphire version (there were more of them, in fact, due to the double thickness of the glass). The black bezel without titanium coating, they say, should be worn out and scratched in a maximum of 2 years. I don’t have any signs of wear yet, but I think that in 2-4 years I’ll just want to ate the watch regardless of the condition, so I wear it carefully and don’t worry too much. And, by the way, if you accidentally rub against a concrete wall or a ceramic pool wall for a watch with a titanium bezel, the coating will not withstand. These are my first harmines, before they used TomTom Multispodt Cardio, Amazfit Stratos. There is also Polar - without smart functions, they do not count. There were still some doubts before buying, the priority was reliability and autonomy in work during sports activities and in everyday life - so that they stably keep in touch with a smartphone and ALWAYS display incoming calls and messages. I can say that the watch met expectations - indeed, without a headache, nerves, dancing with a tambourine, they do everything that is stated and supposed to do. The connection does not fall off, workouts are automatically transferred to all connected applications (Connect, Strava, MFP). I chose between phoenixes and Polar Vantage V - polars in a plastic case were bribed by the price, but upset by the cheapness of the case (the version with titanium caught up with the cost of phoenixes and was still not available for order). The phoenix has a plastic case covered by a metal bezel, making the watch look more mature. I bought it in a German online store with delivery to the 2022, excluding VAT and paying a small fee upon receipt by mail - it cost 20 percent cheaper than 2022 "officials". The duty, however, has increased since 2022, now the final price will be less tasty.

Pros
  • Qualitatively made - no questions to the assembly, do not leak (so far six months). The silicone strap has many holes - it is convenient to adjust to your hand. They don't look fancy with any outfit. Very comfortable to use, especially for outdoor sports. The absence of a touch screen is a virtue for me - once again I am not distracted by trying to cope with it in difficult / wet / frosty weather conditions. Button control becomes logical and understandable after 2-3 days of use. The number of types of sports activities and the possibility of obtaining data for analytics will be enough for almost any user, except, perhaps, for particularly demanding or specific ones (diving, parachuting), where special devices are required. The ability to connect all kinds of sensors (chest heart rate monitors that combine many other analytical functions, stick sensors, cadence, power, etc., etc.). Garmin Connect is a very handy web app for keeping track of your life through your watch. Training plans to prepare you for a particular competition, adapting to your fitness level, are very interesting in terms of testing the achievability of goals (running, cycling, triathlon). Charging - 1 time in 6 days with a constant heart rate monitor and 4 workouts with gps per week for 1-1.5 hours. They measure the pulse in the pool, although with pulse jumps they can be noticed with a delay, the instantaneous error measured on the artery and in hours is about 10-15% (they say it is the same everywhere with a carpal optical sensor).
Cons
  • The price is very high even without titanium and sapphire glass. At the beginning of use, it was not always possible to find a new desired function without referring to the instructions, but the instructions and forums solved all the issues. Among the training plans there is no swimming. The screen fades against the background of Samsung Galaxy and Applewatch watches (but you don’t need to charge it every 1-2 days). Smart messages come without photos, videos on the watch also cannot be viewed, audio files can only be listened to from the player, but not from WhatsApp messages, for example. You can't make calls from the clock. You can not turn off the sound of the phone ringing from the watch when a call comes in - just either pick up the phone (relevant when using a headset) or reset the call. The gps track on the map is not drawn as smoothly as I move and how it was drawn on my previous watches (more on them below). Since the gps sensor is a new generation, this is probably a Garmin software jamb that cannot or does not want to work on it. At the same time, the distance is considered quite true (I check for the stadium), so I don’t find fault much. Although many users scold Garmin for drawing routes "through houses" and so on. and as a result, the wrong distance traveled. ate of the recall (February 2022): for no apparent reason, the watch was no longer detected by the computer - it became impossible to ate the firmware and upload / delete music. The guys in Hong Kong tried to fix the watch (intelligent unofficials - unsuccessfully), after which they were sent to the seller in Germany. The seller, unable to fix it, sent it to GArmin-Germany, after which he issued a conclusion "not to be repaired" and sent me a new watch. I had to pay customs duty again, but the German store reimbursed all postage costs. Trust in Garmin lost, changed to Polar Grit X (4 months - normal flight).
