Review on πŸ‘Ά KidCo Gateway Pressure Plus Baby Gate: Effortless Installation with Adjustable Width & Tool-Free Setup by Shannon Smith

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I agree the guide isn't the best but the gate is intuitive but once you lie down.

I repeat the benefits that previous reviewers have written about, so I won't repeat myself. I agree that the instructions are not the best but the gate is intuitive but once you have all the parts arranged the assembly and protection is intuitive if you are good at assembling the product. I also bought this gate for the top of my stairs where I have a wall on one side and iron railing on the other. That being said, I agree with Megan's April 2013 review that while the box and instructions clearly state that the gate should not be used at the top of the stairs, Revain's review or Q&A makes no mention of this. This would be helpful to know and influenced my purchase in a different direction. I'm sure a Y-spindle mounted gate is just as secure as a wall mount, but the 1" crossbar on the bottom really poses a hazard to an unsuspecting person walking through, let alone going down a ladder. also a locking problem. I actually had less trouble opening the latch than others (my wife had trouble). My problem was that my 4 year old cousin somehow broke the latch and I ended up having to disassemble and reassemble the latch mechanism (by the way, that's not part of the assembly - it's a "send it back" scenario for those who don't are mechanical). This now makes the lock easier to open with one hand but I am concerned that a small child was somehow able to pry open the gate. Also for security reasons until my daughter is old/strong enough If you do it this way, will she climb the stairs. However, I wasn't too happy with this weekend event.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine
