Review on Lenovo Option Mobile ThinkPad USB C by Wiktor Tasior ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall it's good but I expect more, there are some downsides.

If it weren't for the "bug" that exists with the connection of 2K monitors, everything would be lovely and convenient. PS. I will acknowledge that when two external FullHD screens with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 are connected, everything functions normally. Some pros: 1) An adequate number of ports for attaching a variety of add-on components: DP and HDMI monitors (no more than two), USB mouse, flash drives, optical drives, and hard disk drives (SSD), wired Internet via RJ-45, a separate type-c port for charging smartphones, and a 3.5 mm headphone speaker input. 2) Small in size, so it doesn't take up much room on the table. 3) Designed in the ThinkPad design, with a red border down the bottom. 4) The "mirror" power button gives you the ability to turn the laptop on or off, or put it into sleep mode. Tested on a ThinkPad; I cannot comment on how it performs on other brands. 5) The power supply that is included can charge the laptop even when there are two monitors and other peripherals connected to it, which is a really helpful feature. Got cons: After the purchase, one monitor with a resolution of 2K (Lenovo 27") was connected for a considerable amount of time, and the dock provided everything honestly, including 2560x1440 and 60Hz. Recently, I connected a second one that is likewise 2K, with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 (Dell 24"). Because of this, Dell is only able to produce a "picture" that is a maximum of 2048 by 1080 pixels and has a frequency of 25 hertz, which is extremely discouraging and makes it impossible for the "picture" to work. This docking station should be able to accommodate two 2K 60Hz monitors, according to the support site, but it only holds one. ThinkPad notebook computer, complete with all BIOS, Windows, "firmware" ates, and drivers for the dock itself (downloaded from the Lenvo website). When testing the "firmware," software errors were discovered (the DP-hub item does not appear to be operational), and this "bug" appears to be the most significant one. The dock is still covered by its warranty for the next three years, which is quite a long time for an attachment! I intend to have it replaced, and I'll report back with the results. PS. September 2022, despite two (Karl!) replacements under warranty in the SC dock when operating in normal mode (when attaching two 2K monitors), it still does not work! This dock model has been replaced by the ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock (40AY0090EU), which is very identical in appearance, but has a new (own) software. Lenovo makes a gesture of helplessness, and it is quite likely that there will be no updated (and right) firmware.
