How to set it to close perfectly every time

I've seen a lot of reviews where people complain that the lock closes and the gate bounces a bit when closing. I've managed to set mine to always lock up after it's in the right position and it happens every time. Here's what I did: The instructions for the gate opener state that you must retract the opener fully and then secure it to the gate in the desired closed position. Here's the problem. The gate opener has approximately 1/8 inch clearance. So if you pull it back to the fully closed position you can still pull the shaft out about 1/8 inch. If you have a long gate (mine is 14 feet long) it will cause variations in the closed position. So sometimes it closes perfectly and sometimes it closes 1/2 inch short of the close position. This is not a defect in my opener as I have tried two different ones and both have the same 1/8" shank tolerance. "You must eliminate this play completely. Pull the shaft to the closed position as instructed and when finished , make sure you pull the shaft out as far as you can (without rotating) to eliminate slack. With the shaft retracted and fully extended, attach the tube adapter to the gate so that it is in the closed position and the Zombie lock is fully engaged and touching the locking pin. Fully tighten the hose adapter and make sure it does not move. Do not over-tighten the bottom gate or you will break the pipe! After you have done the above your lock should always close perfectly.
