Review on High-Quality Teac TN-300SE-WA Analog Belt Drive Turntable In Walnut Finish by Jon Hill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent all-in-one music system

I am reviewing the TEAC LP-R660USB. I don’t know the difference between this model and the R550 but since this one is newer I decided to go with it. Just to give you a little history as to why i decided to buy this: Prior to getting this I had a cassette deck from the 70s and an 80s turntable. The turntable I had worked well, but the cassette deck has some type of audio signal problem. I had everything connected to a Pyle receiver and had two Zenith speakers which didn’t work all that great.I am really big on cassettes, although I do have a lot of records also. I wanted to find something new that would play my cassettes with good quality. Unfortunately, the best cassette decks (the ones with Dolby S NR) which came out in the 90s are hard to find and when they do show up on eBay, they are extremely expensive. So I decided that buying something old just wasn’t a practical option. Unfortunately, every cassette player I could find had horrible reviews. I had been thinking about getting an all-in-one System, but the brands I found were Jensen, Pyle and Boytone, all of which got bad reviews. Finally I came upon this one. I trust the TEAC brand so I decided to go with it. The only downside is that it doesn’t allow you to record cassettes - only playback. I decided that it was worth it to give up the recording function to have one combined system that doesn’t take up so much room.I love this device. The turntable and cassette player work perfectly. The sound quality is awesome. I am totally satisfied with the built in speakers. I even hooked up my Bluetooth receiver into the Aux In in the back of the machine and can play my streaming music into the device. The turntable is 3 speeds and sounds excellent. The cassette mechanism is very good for a new player. It allows you to switch between normal and high bias playback - a feature which I haven’t seen on any other new players. The instructions also say that you can play back Type IV cassettes when you switch to high bias.I am so pleased with this system. I hope it lasts for a very long time.
