Actually Works - Body & Trim

I decided to take a chance and buy this Rugged Ridge hood because I got a gift certificate from work thinking it was a useless piece of plastic . I was wrong, and knowing what I know now, I'd happily spend my hard-earned money to buy it. I have no idea if there are two different versions or if I just got one of the old packs that has been in storage for years. Out of the box, the shroud is a decent thickness of plastic and should be able to take a beating from the inevitable branches on the trail or road debris. you can tell it's a bit too tight. I mounted it with the hole on the windshield. 3M tape runs along the entire mounting surface and holds this thing up like a 500-pound gorilla. This is definitely a one-time setup as the plastic cover will likely give out before the strap. Performance: I noticed a noticeable increase in heat output on the freeway when I really needed it to create a "warmth bubble" on a cold morning with the top down and the doors off. This shroud appears to allow for a full-range, one-click increase in fan speed when running at high speeds. The last part is important here; If you spend 90% of your time cruising at low speeds around town or on the freeway, this is another piece of plastic that some find cool (if they even notice). Appearance: At first I thought this hood might look a bit odd, but I was wrong. It took my wife a few days to even notice it and she's always looking for new parts for it. Since it sits between the wipers and next to the windscreen, it blends in pretty well unless that's what you're looking for. You can't see it from the driver's seat.
