Review on High-Quality Teac TN-300SE-WA Analog Belt Drive Turntable In Walnut Finish by Douglas Coronado

I just got this as an early Father's Day gift. I had a highly rated under $100 turntable, but my fairly pristine records were skipping and there was no way to adjust the tonearm to correct the problem, so I did the research and asked for the TEAC TN-300SE. I've been delighted with the result.The setup was dead easy. A little trial and error balancing the tonearm with the counterweight, but the rest of the setup was following the simple instructions. In all it took under 15 minutes.The big surprise was the improvement in the sound from my earlier turntable. My last turntable sounded pretty good to my untrained ears, but this turntable has more clarity and "room" in the sound. The preamp also puts out a stronger digital signal so I don't have to turn up the volume as high when listening, or adjust the signal strength post-capture.As for the skipping, it has almost completely disappeared. There was one record where I had to adjust the tonearm weight and anti-skating to get it to play without skipping -- hey, that's why I wanted this turntable to begin with. The adjustments were simple, again with a little trial and error, and simple to dial back when I was done.The one feature I miss is automatic shut-off, but I knew that going in, and it isn't so important to me, because I'm listening when I digitize the vinyl. For playback when I'm busy doing other things I play my digital copies, not the vinyl.
