Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Nintendo 2DS XL - White and Orange by Larry Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A mid-range DS might be the best overall.

I'm just writing a quick review here that I plan to update in 6 months and a year so you guys know how the device works. I bought this 2DS XL to replace my Nintendo DS Lite which broke about two years ago. I didn't play at all during those two years, but I wanted something to play Pokemon on. I knew I wanted something from the DS family again, especially since the Nintendo Store has all the old Pokemon games! FIRST IMPRESSION: So far this has been a great device. Looks more "childish" than the blue and black model. The battery was generous. I play a lot and often leave it in sleep mode and it doesn't drain too quickly. The hinge is a bit loose - don't worry about that. After some googling, it appears the 2DS XL will be made this way, and it's likely done to increase the durability of the product. It doesn't wobble or move during gameplay and you don't notice it. The screens are big, bright and beautiful! Complaints about average/mediocre speakers are true; The speakers are, of course, adequate, but not very good, and there is even a slight vibration inside the device at maximum volume. However, for my situation, this is irrelevant as I'm either using headphones or using no sound. - The pen is too small. I don't normally use a stylus, so it's not a big deal, but it stinks that Nintendo couldn't make this whole bundle perfect by finding a way to include the right-sized stylus. I know some of you probably need to use a stylus for other games I don't play and you'll probably get frustrated with having a third party stylus or one of your old ones. A big doorstop is a silly looking thing. 3DS XL isn't for me because (1) I don't like 3D features and (2) buttons and sliders and all are too much for me. This 2DS XL was the perfect balance for me and I'm glad they put out something similar for gamers like me who want an adequate Nintendo DS but not a small or expensive 3D. I had the original Nintendo DS when it came out and then the Nintendo DS Lite; this 2DS XL is more similar to these devices than the 3DS.
