Review on QNAP TS 230 Cortex A53 Quad Core Processor by Thomas Unruh

Very good NAS, best storage

I put 2 Seagate Ironwolf 6TB drives in this thing and it works great. So I use it as Raid1 so I get about 6TB of it. But. I know my belongings are well protected. Unless you have at least 2 copies of something important, you have no protection at all. One bad hard drive and that's it. So I'm on the safe side with automatic mirrors. I use this NAS as a place to store all my music, photos and saved classic movies and then access them with my Kodi HTPC. Everything works very well. It took a little while to set everything up. Not that a beginner is likely to want to tackle it, but not terribly difficult either. The software works very well. I'm not using the cloud feature yet, but will eventually. The performance is very good and there is no problem streaming without hiccups. I would buy again. This replaces a very old LaCie NAS that still works but has some issues. LaCie no longer sells these boxes. But it has worked well for many years.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I don't remember
