Great everyday scanner

This is the perfect laptop scanner. It is very small and does not require a separate power supply. I keep mine under my desk and only take them out when I need them. So it doesn't always just take up valuable desk space. When I need to use it, all I have to do is plug it into a USB port on my computer and it's ready to go! You can do many things with this scanner and Canon software. I mainly use it for scanning documents to PDF as well as scanning color photo prints. As a PDF creator, this comes in handy because you can easily convert your paper documents into PDFs for sending contracts or just organizing and moving your filing cabinet to your computer. The only downside is that since it doesn't have a document feeder, you'll have to scan each page individually, which can take a bit of time for large, multi-page documents. This works great for photos. I am slowly converting a huge collection of family photos to digital copies so I can organize all my 'new' digital camera photos along with the 'old' film photos on my computer in one huge library. The beauty of scanning photos is that you can put multiple photos on the scanner at once and it will recognize where the edges of each photo are and automatically create separate image files for each photo. This allows you to quickly scan 3 or 4 photos at once. All in all, this is a great little scanner and you can't beat the price! A tip: you may need to run the tablet calibration procedure once you have set up your scanner. Access is via the ScanGear software. At first I had an issue where my color photos showed banding and yellow color shift, but this was fixed immediately as soon as I ran the calibration utility.
